About

31 years in one city

MIS, Inc. was founded by Karim Ardalan in Albuquerque in July 1995, back when most businesses were still deciding whether they needed a website at all. We have been building them ever since.

How we got here

We started before Google did

In July 1995, a website was something you had to explain to people. Karim Ardalan founded MIS to build them for Albuquerque businesses that could see where things were going. The tools and expectations have changed many times since, but the work still begins by understanding what a client actually needs.

What has kept the studio going since is not any particular technology. It is that every few years the web reinvents itself, and someone has to work out which of the changes actually matter for a small business and which are noise. We have made that call through the dial-up era, the CMS era, the mobile shift, the platform era, and now AI.

We have stayed deliberately small. That is a choice, not a stage we are trying to grow out of. A studio this size means the person who understands your business is the person writing the code, and it means we can afford to turn down work that is not a good fit.

Today we work mostly with New Mexico small businesses and nonprofits, alongside clients further afield who have been with us long enough that distance stopped mattering.

What we’ve built since 1995
Since 1995

We’ve built through every era of the web

Some of our client relationships are older than many web studios. Each shift arrived with a mix of genuine change and expensive nonsense, and separating the two has been the actual job.

1995 The dial-up web

First business websites, hand-built.

2004 CMS & ecommerce

Site owners could update content themselves.

2012 Mobile-first

Responsive design becomes table stakes.

2020 Modern platforms

Webflow, headless builds, integrations.

2026 The AI web

Agents, automation, and being found by answer engines.

How we work

Four things we will not compromise on

These are the standards every client gets, whether it’s your first project with us or we have worked together for years.

1

We won’t oversell you

Every project we take on has to genuinely help your business, and we are honest about what you need and don’t need.

2

We agree on the price before work begins

Once the scope is clear, you get a written proposal and a fixed price. If the scope needs to change later, we discuss it with you first.

3

We build relationships that last

We want to remain useful after launch. Several of our client relationships have lasted for decades and through multiple generations of their websites.

4

We choose tools deliberately

We select platforms, frameworks, and services for the work they need to do. We explain the tradeoffs instead of forcing every project onto the same technology.

As the vice president of sales and marketing for a consumable pet company web development has become an essential and time consuming activity, especially since it's a function we need to outsource. Despite thorough research and referrals the first several web development companies we worked with were really a challenge. We experienced everything from exceeding budgeted costs, project running late to simply not receiving replies on immediate issues. I can't tell you how lucky we are that we found Karim and MIS. He and his corporation are honest, talented and responsive. Gone are the days of waiting a month for a response or being disappointed that the functionalities we discussed aren't working properly. I outline a project for Karim, send him my copy and design thoughts and I have a great looking, functional website for a reasonable cost in a matter of weeks. We have already developed 3 websites with Karim and look forward to doing more with him in the future. I strongly recommend Karim and MIS for anything web development based.

Let’s meet in person

We are in downtown Albuquerque at 500 Marquette NW. We prefer meeting local clients in person, whether that is at your office, ours, or one of Albuquerque’s many excellent coffee shops. Visits to our office are by appointment.

Working downtown keeps us close to the businesses and organizations we serve. We know the city, we understand the value of being able to meet face to face, and we know that Balloon Fiesta week is not a normal week for anyone in Albuquerque.
