Wix to Webflow
Rebuilding a Wix site in Webflow when portability, design workflow, integrations, or long-term maintenance justify the move.
Wix to Webflow Wix is capable, but the working site stays on Wix
Wix can support polished marketing sites, ecommerce, bookings, memberships, and advanced SEO settings. A business does not need to leave simply because the site was built there.
The lasting constraint is portability. Wix confirms that a working Wix site depends on its proprietary infrastructure and cannot be exported to run on another host. Leaving Wix therefore means rebuilding the website, even though some content and business data may be exported separately.
Reasons to consider a rebuild
A Wix-to-Webflow move may be worthwhile when:
- The organization needs a design system better matched to MIS’s workflow
- The current structure has become difficult to extend or maintain
- Required integrations fit more cleanly outside the Wix ecosystem
- The site needs enough redesign and reorganization that preserving the current build offers little advantage
- The organization wants MIS to provide ongoing development in the tools we support
SEO alone is not a reason to leave. Wix provides redirects, canonical settings, structured-data controls, and other advanced SEO features. The migration should solve a problem the current site cannot solve economically.
What can be carried forward
The visual site is rebuilt rather than converted. Copy, images, downloads, metadata, and page relationships are inventoried and reused where appropriate. Wix apps may provide separate exports for products, contacts, orders, bookings, blog content, or CMS data, but availability and field coverage vary.
We review those exports before promising what will transfer. A spreadsheet of contacts is not the same thing as a migrated member account, and exported product data does not reproduce every store setting or connected app.
Forms and outside services are recreated and tested. Established URLs remain unchanged where practical. When a URL changes, it receives a permanent redirect to the closest relevant page.
Why Webflow may fit better
Webflow gives MIS the design and CMS workflow we use for most client-managed marketing sites. Clients retain a visual editing experience, while our team works in a system we build and support every day.
Webflow is still a hosted service with its own conventions and limitations. Moving from one hosted platform to another should be a considered choice, not a claim that one product is universally better.
A custom build using the Astro framework is another option when a portable codebase, static publishing, or specialized functionality matters more than visual editing. See website development.
Most Wix-to-Webflow projects take three to five weeks. The timeline depends on page count, data exports, integrations, and how much the design and content change.
What happens next
Send us the Wix site and explain what you need it to do next. We will assess whether rebuilding in Webflow is worth the cost and disruption.
