A focused nonprofit site that turns a composer’s reputation and a rigorous scholarship program into a clear case for support.
UR Art & Culture is an Albuquerque nonprofit founded by composer and oud player Rahim AlHaj. Its first major program is the Rahim AlHaj Scholarship for Art & Culture, an award for emerging composers whose talent has outpaced what they can otherwise afford to pursue.
One scholarship, several ways to fund it
The site makes the case for the scholarship in Rahim’s own words, then gives supporters a direct next step. Donorbox handles general donations, gifts specifically for the scholarship, and membership at $5 a month or $50 a year. Larger gifts through donor-advised funds have a clear route too.
That range matters for a young organization. Someone can begin with a recurring membership, receive a signed CD, or support the scholarship at a level appropriate to a larger charitable plan.
A committee, not just a name
Rahim’s reputation opens the door, but the scholarship’s credibility cannot rest on one name. The site presents the full review committee, including ethnomusicologists, music theorists, conductors, and working musicians. Naming the people who evaluate applicants makes the process visible and serious.
The organization is still building its history of programs and events. We designed the structure to grow as that record develops without pretending a long backlog already exists.
We built the site with Astro, a fast web framework that gave this small nonprofit a custom foundation without tying it to a template it would quickly outgrow.
